Terms and Conditions of Use

Scope

These terms and conditions apply to all digital platforms created and managed by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Registering on any of the digital platforms operated by ADEK implies that the user agrees to all the terms and conditions.

ADEK’s digital platforms include:

  • Websites, such as ADEK’s main website and other microsites for ADEK’s programs and initiatives
  • Systems for managing school operations and data, student data, surveys, events and others 
  • The “Rayah” application installed from the Apple or Google Play stores
  • Social media channels, such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.

Agreement

By accessing and using ADEK’s digital platforms, you agree to these terms and conditions of use. You also agree to any updates or modifications, new features ADEK might apply to these terms and conditions, as well as other policies on ADEK’s digital platforms at any time without prior notice. 

ADEK advises you to check this page regularly for any updates. Continuing to use ADEK’s digital platforms means that you are up to date with the latest terms and conditions, that you agree to them and that you use them, including the features and content, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations in the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

By accessing and using ADEK’s digital platforms, you agree that you will NOT:

  • Use ADEK’s digital platforms or engage them in unlawful activities or any activities that might create legal liabilities for ADEK.
  • Post any material without ADEK’s permission, this includes commercial advertisements and any similar content.
  • Post any content that includes viruses, corrupt data, or other files that cause harm, damage, and corruption.
  • Use ADEK’s digital platforms for communications or other materials that misrepresent ADEK. 
  • Hold ADEK liable for the outcome resulting from using ADEK’s digital platforms.
  • Use the content from ADEK’s digital platforms to reproduce other applications, webpages, news articles, announcements or any similar material without contacting ADEK. Please visit ADEK’s copyrights page for more information.

ADEK reserves all rights to take punitive actions in case any of these terms or related policies are violated, including:

  • Warning you about your breach of ADEK’s terms and conditions, and requesting you to refrain from such behavior.  
  • Deleting any content you might have posted on ADEK’s digital platforms without prior permission.
  • Terminating your access to any applications or forums.
  • Taking legal action.

Warranty Disclaimer 

You acknowledge and agree that your use of ADEK’s digital platforms and any material accessible through them is at your own risk. ADEK does not guarantee that these platforms will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of problems. ADEK also does not guarantee or promise specific results from their use. To the extent permissible by law, the content and functionality of ADEK’s digital platforms are provided without warranties of any kind, either explicit or implied.

Links to Third-Party Websites

ADEK’s digital platforms may contain electronic links or references to other websites operated by third parties that are not under ADEK’s control and ADEK is not responsible for the privacy policies or the content of those sites. 

Similarly, access to the ADEK’s digital platforms may be through links of third parties that are not under ADEK’s control. ADEK does not guarantee or vouch for the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any information on these websites and bears no responsibility for any damages or malfunctions arising from their content or information. The presence of any third-party electronic link on the ADEK’s digital platforms does not imply that ADEK endorses it or recommends its use.

The ADEK’s digital platforms may also display content from various social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram ("social media content"). Such content is subject to the rights, obligations, and restrictions set by the respective social networking site. To learn more about these terms, please refer to the applicable terms and conditions of the relevant site.

If you find any of your previously authored and published materials from a social networking site displayed on ADEK’s platforms and wish to remove it, please contact ADEK via e-mail at: info@adek.gov.ae.

You acknowledge and authorize ADEK to publish, through external search service providers, any content, publications, comments, information, statements, or videos posted or made available by you on ADEK’s digital platforms, along with any related metadata. With the above acknowledgment, you are fully responsible for those contents, and the department is not accountable for them.

Registration

Some of ADEK’s digital platforms require registration or link to other applications managed by ADEK. By registering on ADEK’s digital platforms, you acknowledge that: 

  • All the registration data you provide is true and accurate.
  • You will not use an offensive username.
  • You are solely responsible for the confidentiality and privacy of your username, password, and registration information and any use of your account.
  • ADEK reserves the right to cancel, remove or restrict your registration if ADEK finds that you provided incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete data or concealed or did not disclose any required information.
  • You are fully responsible for all the data or information you provided and are responsible for updating it in case it changes.
  • You are fully responsible for all the activities that you perform using your account on any of ADEK's digital Platforms.

The mere registration to any of ADEK’s digital platforms does not mean you have automatically been admitted. Your registration form will be reviewed and you will be notified once it is approved.

Choice of Law and Jurisdiction

Without prejudice to the provisions of Law No. 34 of 2021 regarding combating rumors and cybercrime and all relevant legislation, your use of ADEK’s digital platforms and these terms and conditions are subject to the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. You consent to the courts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, having non-exclusive jurisdiction over you. ADEK also maintains the right to file a lawsuit in your country of residence.
 
Interacting With ADEK via Social Media and Forums

You agree not to upload, broadcast, distribute, store, create, or publish any of the following materials in any other way via ADEK’s social media platforms and forums:

  • Any message, data, information, text, music, sound, photos, videos, graphics, identifier or other content material that is prohibited, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, suggestive, harassing, threatening, offensive, disruptive, fraudulent, discriminatory, violating to privacy or use rights of personal data or otherwise objectionable for any reason.
  • Any content that may constitute, encourage or incite the commission of a criminal offense, violate the rights of any party, give rise to legal liability in any way or violates any local, national or international law.
  • Any content that contradicts the laws of the United Arab Emirates through:
    • Offending any religion, belief or sect
    • defamation of any individual, institution, or religion whether it is for monotheistic religions, or any act that offends a national symbol.
  • Any content that may infringe any patent, trademark, copyright or other intellectual or proprietary right of any party.
  • Any content that impersonates any person or entity or otherwise gives a false idea of your connection to a person or entity.
  • Any content that includes promotions, political campaigns, unwanted advertisements, including sending spam, instant messages, fabricated or fake stories, or providing links to other websites or web pages.
  • Any content that includes the personal information of any third party, including but not limited to addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, social security numbers, and credit card numbers.
  • Any content that includes viruses, corrupt data or other files that cause harm, damage and corruption.
  • Any content that violates these terms of use or the privacy policy approved by ADEK.
  • Any content that violates students’ behavior or the ethical behavior guidelines approved by ADEK.
  • Any content that ADEK deems, according to ADEK’s own judgment, to be objectionable.

Communication Consent

By accessing and using ADEK’s digital platforms, you agree to be contacted by ADEK through different channels, including, but not limited to phone calls, emails, sms, whatsapp...etc. 

Changes to These Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
ADEK reserves the right to edit, add, remove and update these terms from time to time without prior notice. You are responsible for frequently checking this page to ensure you comply with ADEK’s terms. By continuing to use ADEK’s digital platforms, you acknowledge and agree to any changes applied to these terms.
